As a Pug rescue, we rarely receive puppies (average age 5+). In addition, Pugs we receive are often not "perfect" - they may have medical issues, house-training issues, or other issues we are unaware of. We strive to identify all issues, correct those that can be corrected with medical care, and be transparent in our descriptions.
Please read this application thoroughly and answer all the questions completely and honestly. The information you provide in this application, during your phone interview, and during our home visit will help us find a good match for you. Incomplete applications will not be considered. To ensure a successful adoption, we carefully screen prospective homes.
Due to the extensive time commitment to process an application, effective July 1, 2017, each application will require a $25 non-refundable application processing fee (no fee required for foster home applications or previous adopters adopting again within one year). This fee is being implemented to ensure applicants are genuinely interested in adopting a Pug. We are investing a lot of time and effort processing applications for applicants that don't have a genuine interest in adopting a Pug. We thank you in advance for your understanding. Adoption Fees are as follows (see "About Adoption" page for more details): less than 1 year old = $400, 1-6 years old = $325, 7-9 years old = $275, 10 years old and older = $150.
Please be aware that:
* All applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a means of supporting a Pug and any associated medical needs.
* Prior to adoption, a home visit will be performed.
* References will be checked prior to application approval.
* All adopted Pugs must be kept on a leash/harness when outside in an unsecured area.
* All household dogs must be spayed or neutered.
* Adopted Pugs must be kept up-to-date on vaccinations and must be given a heartworm preventive monthly all year.
* Follow-up phone calls are performed post-adoption for status updates.
* If, for any reason, you can no longer keep/care for your Pug, you must relinquish ownership to Bluegrass Pug Rescue.

Bluegrass Pug Rescue, Inc. adopts pugs only to homes willing to make a lifetime commitment to their pugs. Pugs are to be treated as family members. They require a quality diet, regular medical care, vaccinations and heartworm preventive. Should an adopter ever have to give up the Pug, it will be returned back to BPR at no charge to BPR.
